Mature Age Students

The faculty is committed to encouraging increased enrolment by Mature Age students and working with these students who are currently enrolled, to assist them to complete their studies successfully.

Within the University

The Melbourne University Student Union offers a range of advice and services for student parents. In conjunction with the University and the University of Melbourne Postgraduate Association (UMPA), a new edition of A Degree with the Lot: A Guide for Student Parents has been published. An electronic copy of this guide is available to download from the above link or alternatively printed copies of this booklet are available to be collected from the Advocacy Service at Union house and other student service providers on campus.

In addition, UMPA have also prepared an information guide for student parents who are enrolled in postgraduate programs.

The Academic Skills Unit have created a webpage with advice for students returning to study that lists some tips and links to other services that mature age students may find usefull. There is also some advice regarding  effective study techniques for mature age students available on the virtual service centre.

Within the Faculty

Each year the Law Faculty appoints a Mature Age Students’ EO Liaison Officer to assist those students (dealing with issues affecting mature age and part-time and students who are parents) with their study and related needs.
